MEETS AND EXCEEDS NIJ-STD-0104.2MODEL S-1619 – MODEL S-1619 w/S-5026 Face Shield

OUTER SHELL:

The helmet shell shall be of fiberglass construction in two shell sizes, small/medium, large/extra large. The shell shall have an integral molded visor and side attachment and end screws for attaching a face shield to the shell. The shell edge shall be furnished with a tough molded metal core scuff-proof edging.Finish shall be a high gloss paint protected by a clear, hard, scratch resis-tant coating.

LINER:

Interior of outer shell to be lined with a foam polyurethane semi-resilient energy absorbing material. Liner material to be sealed off by an inner plastic shell to allow thorough sanitzation.

INNER SHELL:

The helmet shall be provided with an inner shell of ABS plastic to seal off the liner and to protect the liner from solvents, hair oils and hair preparations. The ABS liner shell of .030 inches or more wall thickness shall be semi-rigid to spread the shock of an impact and must be cleanable with mild soap solution.

SUSPENSION:

The helmet shall have a perforated cushion pad sizing system which allows for size adjustment and air flow ventila- tion. The cushion pads shall be attached to the ABS liner inner shell with velcro. They shall be easily removed for replacement, adjust- ment or cleaning. The cushion pads furnished with each helmet shall be in 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″ thicknesses. foam stabilizing padded interi- or shall also be available.

RETENTION:

Sewn, perspiration resistant, naugahyde incorporating 3/4″ black tubular nylon webbing, shall be riveted to the outer shell. Harness shall have provisions for velcro attachment of ear muffs & foul weather gear. A quick release snap fastener with chin cup or throat sleeve shall be used to retain the helmet. Alternate retention shall be a quick release buckle.

SIZES:

The helmet shall be available in two sizes: small/medium, large/extra large with three choices of interior sizing, for head sizes 6 1/2 to 8 1/4.

TACTICAL DUTY ACCESSORIES:

Helmet shall have provisions to attach tactical duty face shield and ear & neck protector.

RIOT FACE SHIELD:

The face shield shall be injected molded or high-impact transparent polycarbonate. The shield hall be of optical grade and minimum of .100 inches thick. The sides and bottom liner edge of the shield shall be a smooth molded edge. The shield shall allow a 90° rotation, by means of cam-action pivot, from full-up to full-down position and provided with a positive lock in either position. A metal aluminum band with a spring steel clip shall be provided to attach the shield to the helmet. The shield ends shall be attached to the helmet by screws to firmly secure the shield on the helmet. The face shield shall have a neoprene seal to provide a liquid seal between the face shield and the helmet. The shield shall be replaceable in the field and meet or exceed the requirements of 287.1, VESC-8 and NlJ 0104.2.
